Grace Damio is the director of research and training for the Hispanic Health Council (HHC), where she has dedicated decades of professional service to CHW work. She leads HHC’s community-based participatory research, community assessment, community engagement, and research into community-based CHW service designs. In the area of training, she leads the statewide “Cross Cultural and Diversity Inclusiveness” initiative, targeting health and human-services students, providers, and faculty, and designed to establish the framework of knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for effective interaction with diverse individuals. Ms. Damio is author or co-author of many peer-reviewed articles, and also serves on the SIM Practice Transformation Task Force.
