NTC’s Community Health Worker program will prepare you to serve in a variety of health care organizations. This 17 credits / 2 semesters (Fall or Spring start, part-time) certificate program provides a blend of teacher-based and field-based learning that incorporates effective training environments for students. The program is offered online with just a couple of on-campus sessions. If you cannot reach the Bemidji campus, accommodations will be made for similar experiences in your community.You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to help your community increase and improve access to health care; improve access to health care for racial and ethnic minorities; improve quality of care for the chronically ill; promote healthy communities and educate families about access to and use of health care coverage.

This course equips individuals to think big picture about improving the region’s health by considering each community member’s unique health, cultural, and social needs. We Are Health: Training for Community Health Worker

90-hours of training. Designed by our staff and using popular education, our We Are Health training has been created over the course of more than 25 years of work with community health workers worldwide. It has been approved by Oregon Health Authority’s Traditional Health Worker Commission as a certified training program of CHW in Oregon. This 90-hour training for community health workers provides an opportunity for those who complete the requirements to become certified Community Health Workers in Oregon.
