Professional Achievement Award for Community Health Worker

Community health workers (CHWs) are one of the first contacts for the public and serve as a bridge between health and social services and the community. CHWs build and sustain relationships and communications through outreach, provide hands-on assistance to accomplish daily activities, and offer community education, informal counseling services, social support and advocacy. As CHWs are becoming more widely recognized for their contributions to the community, and with the growing diversity of the population, increased chronic disease, and the difficulty of navigating the increasingly complex healthcare systems, jobs in this field are on the rise. This is an 8 week course, that has 10 units.
