Live Well Diabetes Leader Workshop


Attend a Free six week Live Well Diabetes Training to become a certified Diabetes training Leader. Leaders are required to co-facilate a Livewell Workshop once a year to keep their certificate. During these workshops participants will learn new techniques to manage chronic health issues. Leaders will lead workshops for adults and caregivers with ongoing health issues such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, pain, depression, and anxiety.  Participants will learn healthy ways of dealing with stress, pain, fatigue, anxiety, and difficult emotions. Subjects covered include nutrition, exercise, decision making, problem solving, goal setting and much more.  Workshops are interactive and allow participants to share experiences and help each other problem solve.  Participants are lent a copy of Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, and a relaxation CD.

Mental Health First Aid AND Youth Mental Health First Aid


In the Mental Health First Aid course you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, local mental health resources and where to turn for help. There are two types of Mental Health First Aid courses — adult and youth. Training Paths and Standards

Path 1, New CHWs, is for Community Health Workers who seek certification through education & training, or who are just starting their career. Applicants must fulfill the following criteria: 

  • At least 16 years old.
  • Training through a vendor approved by the CHW Advisory Body.
    • This training should include completion of an internship. 
  • At least two references commenting on CHW work experience.
    • One reference should come from a professional the applicant has worked with and one from a community member. 
  • 1000 hours proof of experience as a CHW within 3 years of application date.

Path 2, Experienced CHWs, is for Community Health Workers who seek certification through professional experience.  Applicants must fulfill the following criteria: 

  • At least 16 years old.
  • At least two references commenting on CHW work experience.
    • One reference should come from a professional the applicant has worked with and one from a community member.
  • 2000 hours proof of experience as a CHW within 3 years of application date.
